    Request for Certification of VA Education Benefits

    Students wanting to use their VA Education benefits must submit a VECR from EACH SEMESTER per U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs policies. Your enrollment cannot be certified and you will not receive VA benefits for the semester if you fail to submit a VECR. Requests must be submitted prior to the beginning of each semester.

    • First time users must create a VA account and apply for benefits at https://www.va.gov/education/how-to-apply/
    • Once approved, provide a copy of your VA Certificate of Eligibility (COE) letter or Statement of Benefits letter (Chap 33 only) to the CCTC VA School Certifying Official (SCO).
    • The U.S.Department of Veterans Affairs determines eligibility for all education benefits and programs. The VA will notify you of your eligibility. For questions about your application status please contact the VA Student Hotline at 1-888-442-4551.

  • Requirements for VA Education Benefits

    Submit a VA Certificate of Eligibility (COE) letter or a Statement of Education Benefits letter (Chap 33 only) to the School Certifying Official (SCO) if;

    • It’s the first time you are using VA education benefits at CCTC
    • It’s been over 3 years since your last CCTC request for VA certification
    • Your information or benefit type has changed


    VA will not pay benefits for courses listed as “not applicable” to your current certificate or degree program. The college may bill you for tuition and/or fees not covered by the VA. See your advisor for degree program requirements.

    Students must maintain CCTC Standards of Academic Progress (SAP) of a cumulative 2.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) and/or 67% or higher cumulative pass rate each semester to retain VA education benefits eligibility. The VA will be notified of your SAP status each semester.

    Immediately notify the School Certifying Official of the following:
    • Changes to your enrollment*
    • Change of program or place of training
    • Add, drop or withdrawal from a course or program*
    * Changes to your enrollment after certification may result in a student debt of tuition and fees or other allowances as determined by VA.

    Contact VA Debt Management for information on student debts at https://www.va.gov/manage-va-debt/ or call 1 (800) 827-0648. The VA does not allow SCO’s to mediate for student debts.

    Students using VA education benefits may need to verify their enrollment each month to VA using the Verify Your Enrollment (VYE) options.

    Verification of enrollment is required in order to receive any eligible VA education benefits. Visit the GI Bill website www.gibill.va.gov or call 1-888-442-4551 for more information on VA education benefits.

    Transfer Students Only: Submit transcripts from all previously attended schools.

    Submit a VECR Form each semester you plan to use your VA education benefits.
